Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled HPC Design Architect with a strong background in High Performance Computing (HPC) and engineering simulation workflows to support the design and implementation of a next-generation HPC platform. This platform will enable advanced simulations for a nuclear reactor plant, including shielding design, CFD, and stress analysis.

The ideal candidate will have experience in cloud-based HPC architectures, particularly in Linux environments, and a solid understanding of simulation tools such as Ansys, StarCCM+, and Vipre. You will work closely with engineering and IT teams to define best practices, guide platform architecture, and ensure seamless integration with CAD and PLM tools like Siemens TeamCenter and NX.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical consultancy on the design of a cloud-based HPC platform for engineering simulations.
  • Define best practices for deploying and managing HPC workloads in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
  • Guide the setup of SLURM-based job scheduling on Linux clusters.
  • Advise on data storage architecture accessible from both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support simulation workflows in CFD, thermal, and structural analysis.
  • Support integration with CAD/PLM tools (TeamCenter, NX) and assist in enabling new models in line with the deployment roadmap.
  • Translate functional requirements into scalable HPC architecture designs.
  • Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject

  • Proven experience designing and implementing HPC platforms in cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong background in Linux-based HPC clusters and SLURM workload manager.
  • Familiarity with engineering simulation tools:
    • Ansys, StarCCM+ (CFD)
    • Vipre (Core Physics)
  • Experience in nuclear, aerospace, mechanical, or civil engineering domains.
  • Understanding of heat exchanger simulations, shielding, and stress analysis.
  • Experience with data storage solutions accessible across Windows and Linux.
  • Exposure to CAD/PLM systems, especially Siemens TeamCenter and NX.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Background in nuclear engineering or related safety-critical industries.
  • Experience with hybrid HPC environments (on-prem + cloud).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices in HPC environments.
  • Knowledge of containerization (e.g., Singularity, Docker) in HPC contexts.
