We have a number of opportunities for experienced Electrical & Electronic Engineers to be involved with the design, prototyping, development, test, and integration of interconnected hardware (HW) products and bespoke sub-assemblies. The engineer will work on integrating high-speed processing, storage, networking, security, data communications, and low-voltage (LV) power supply systems, ensuring all products meet UK and EU certification standards for use in surface ship and sub-surface environments.
Deliver against HW requirements through design, development, and test activities.
Implement hardware architecture in physical and electrical form, ensuring correct fit and function.
Support manufacturing and procurement during build phases by resolving Problem Reports and implementing Engineering Change Requests.
Define and execute Hardware Test Specifications and Design Proving procedures during qualification.
Define and conduct EMC and Environmental Test Specifications.
Design and develop special test equipment as required.
Attend and manage off-site qualification testing (e.g., EMC, vibration, temperature).
Ensure compliance with requirements through V&V evidence (e.g., DOORS, IADT techniques).
Provide specialist knowledge in:
CE / UKCA marking
LV Directive compliance
EMC & environmental certification
RoHS & REACH compliance
Provide integration, installation, acceptance, and trial support.
Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
Demonstrable experience in electronic/electrical design, prototyping, and integration within a regulated industry.
COTS AC and DC LV power supply design and integration.
Circuit design: PCI, RS232/485, Ethernet, Hotlink.
Bespoke digital and analogue circuit design, simulation, debug, and testing.
Power electronics design (>60V).
High-speed signal transmission, impedance matching, LVDS, serial communication integrity.
PCB layout specification.
Circuit-level interfaces (I2C, SPI, I2S).
Interfacing LVPECL, VML, CML, LVDS/M-LVDS logic levels.
Analogue/Digital audio design and mixed-signal circuits.
DDRx memory integration.
Embedded microcontroller design.
Cable/harness design using military-grade connectors (e.g., MIL-DTL-38999).
Cable screening & military-style cable construction.
Designing to EMC/environmental standards.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
