Overview

This is a great opportunity, joining our existing project teams working and supporting our customers with consultation and Analysis with Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT). You will work with a consultative approach while building strong relationships with our customers as a team, communicating with stakeholders at a variety of seniority levels and provide a high standard of System Engineering.

Responsibilities

To develop training courseware through the analysis, design, maintenance, review and production of DSAT Documentation & processes for military training.  Main duties include leading or being part of a team. Main Duties will include:

  • Work as a member of a team responsible for the analysis, design, maintenance, review and production of DSAT Documentation & processes for military training sites and organisations.
  • Analysing, capturing and articulating training needs arising from new or changing requirements.
  • Inform on the optimum training solution(s) to meet the Authority’s training requirements, balancing time, cost and quality, and define the training solution at the appropriate level of detail to enable Training Design to commence.  
  • Producing, maintaining and/or updating Training Design from: Formal Training Statement (FTS) (including the Training Performance Statement (TPS), Training Objectives (TOs), Workplace Training Statement (WTS) and Residual Training Gap Statement (RTGS) to delivery of Assessment Strategy (AStrat) and Assessment Specification (ASpec), Learning Specification (LSpec) Training Authorisation Document (TrAD) in DSAT compliant course templates.
  • Interviewing subject matter experts to collate required data.
  • Participate in internal workshops to discuss and agree findings from analysis.
  • The upkeep, update and revalidation of course syllabi and standards, trainer competence, qualification and experience requirements.
  • Conducting the upkeep, update, and revalidation of course information, including but not limited to, course size limits, health and safety, relevant rules and regulations, course length and required support and resources.
  • Conducting and maintain Training Design in response to new training requirements, including those arising from New Capabilities, to ensure that training satisfies operational / workplace performance requirements, provides the design output requirements required by the Authority and is kept up-to-date.
  • Updating Training Design materials to incorporate relevant recommendations and feedback from internal and external assurance, to ensure that training remains up-to-date and satisfies operational/workplace performance requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to provide accreditation for new and/or amended training as designed, and/or any amendments or implications for existing accreditations following Training Design changes.
  • Be ‘Responsible for championing and fostering a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement’.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering or similar scientific based qualification
  • Completion of a Training Accreditation Programme (TAP)

Essential skills

Should have extensive experience of / or:

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels both internally and within the customer organisation.
  • Experience in course design and have contributed to the design of significant training courses.
  • A good working knowledge of the training design and development processes for training media.
  • A consultative approach (customer relationship skills)
  • Presenting to management and senior leaders
  • Writing and oral communication skills
  • Using the MS Office suite with emphasis on Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Working with:
    • Learning Management Systems (LMS)

    • Blended learning programs
    •  

Desired skills

  • Experience in organisational design and development. 
  • Experience in the development of apprenticeship qualifications. 
  • Degree level education in a relevant area. 
  • Teaching and training development qualification at degree level. 
  • Human Resource Development qualification and experience. 
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body such as CIPD.

Experience

  • Applicants should have a experience as a training needs professional
  • Experience working in and supporting delivery in a DSAT environment.
  • Submarine Domain Experience would be an advantage
