We are seeking a skilled Lead Electrical Engineer with expertise in Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) to join our dynamic, multi-national, multi-disciplinary team on an innovative aerospace program. This role will focus on leading a team of Electrical Engineers in the development and delivery of design data for EWIS physical design, as well as a team of designated design checkers.
The position requires a deep understanding of aircraft zones, potential risk factors, and degradation mechanisms affecting wiring systems, as well as the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders within the UK Research & Technology (R&T) environment.
Lead and manage EWIS technology projects within UK R&T programs, ensuring compliance with EASA and CS-25 regulations.
Oversee the design, integration, and validation of aircraft electrical wiring systems using CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE tools.
Provide technical leadership to design teams, validate deliverables, and ensure high-quality engineering outputs.
Coordinate project activities with program managers, partners, and suppliers to meet scope, schedule, and quality objectives.
Manage team performance—assign tasks, mentor engineers, and resolve technical issues.
Ensure all designs, documentation, and test activities adhere to company standards and regulatory requirements.
Serve as the technical focal point for stakeholders, reporting progress, risks, and results to management.
Produce and review project deliverables including 3D/2D designs, test plans and reports, TRL dossiers, and engineering notes.
Strong knowledge of EASA EWIS regulations and CS-25 certification requirements.
Proven experience in aeronautical electrical harness design and wiring integration.
Proficiency in CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE for 3D/2D electrical design.
Solid understanding of aircraft zone management, wiring degradation factors, and system safety principles.
Experience working within R&T (Research & Technology) or aerospace development environments.
Strong project management and team leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication and technical reporting abilities.
Ability to manage suppliers, assess technical risks, and ensure project quality and compliance.
Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
Working knowledge of PLM tools, documentation standards, and engineering configuration control.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira).
Additional European language skills (e.g., French or German) are an advantage.
Proven track record in the design, integration, and certification of Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) for large aircraft.
Extensive experience in the aerospace industry, ideally within an EASA Part 21J or equivalent design organization.
Demonstrated experience leading R&T (Research & Technology) or innovation projects involving electrical system development and validation.
Hands-on experience producing and reviewing 3D/2D harness designs, test plans, and engineering documentation using CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE.
Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams and managing supplier deliverables.
Strong background in aircraft system installation, wiring routing, and zonal analysis.
Familiarity with CS-25 compliance demonstration, EWIS safety assessments, and design assurance processes.
Experience presenting technical findings, risk assessments, and project progress to senior management and external partners.
