We are looking for a technically skilled and motivated Structures Composite Design Engineer. The candidate must have strong technical experience with composites, preferably with next generation advanced composites and composite wingtips. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate and implement technical solutions for some of our high-profile programmes of work. The Design Engineer will help to ensure designs are compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements and internal standards within the programme, schedule, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Have a shared responsibility in the design of structural aircraft identifying technical problems and creating technical solutions.
  • Working with both composite structures and different assembly techniques.
  • Will be part of a multidisciplinary team together with analysis engineers, manufacturing engineers, and tooling engineers.
  • Work on the integration of all requirements and input from other engineering disciplines into the conceptual and detailed design, such that the product definition can be made and a cost-efficient and producible design is achieved.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in composite structural design.
  • Demonstrated technical project delivery.

Essential skills

  • Composite Product Design (CPD)
  • Engineering to GKN design standards and requirements
  • Generate DFM datasets
  • Generate compensated tooling surfaces
  • Support to tooling suppliers
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing teams as required
  • Provide post manufacture product engineering assessment

Experience

  • Experience with next-generation composite materials and technologies.
