Overview

This Systems Engineering vacancy presents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop and grow their skills and knowledge within a thriving organisation. The job holder will be engaged in a wide variety of Systems Engineering activities covering the entire engineering lifecycle, specialising in verification & validation, which will involve proactive interaction and communication with other Engineering and non-Engineering functions. Candidates with a good understanding of all aspects of Systems Engineering relating to lifecycle processes and methodologies should apply.

 

Bristol based on site requirement is 4 days per week.

 

Responsibilities

  • Systems Engineering Support Activities Associated with all stages of the V life-cycle.
    • Requirements content, and experienced in handling embedded software or firmware requirements
    • Experience in development complex systems design requirements, particularly for implementation in software.
    • Support system requirement flow-down through to design and implementation teams.
    • Technical assumptions burndown and act as external facing point of contact for design assumptions
    • Design problem and query register
    • Design change proposals register
    • Maintenance of the design baseline
    • Provide inputs to monthly status reports and planning activities.
    • Generation/maintenance of system design documentation and sub-system interface specifications
    • Conduct system design trade studies and propose design changes with detailed impact assessments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent education with relevant experience.
  • Applications are also welcomed from individuals with significant demonstrable experience who don’t hold formal qualifications.
  • CEng or demonstration that working towards chartership.
  • Member of a relevant institution, or relevant experienced and capable to register with Engineering Council

Essential skills

  • DOOR Experience
  • Requirements capture and maturation

Desired skills

  • Model Based Engineering experience
  • Any knowledge of the following aerospace standards
  • Ability to undertake / Lead trade studies
  • Change control
  • Stakeholder Management

Experience

  • Experience working in high hazard industries
  • A wide experience of Systems Engineering Activities IAW INCOSE Methodologies
  • Experience in Verification methodologies.
  • Experience with Validation Methodologies.
  • An Understanding of testing of complex engineering products.
  • Experience across all areas of the product life-cycle
  • Experience with Systems Engineering tools such as Enterprise Architect and DOORS is desirable.
  • Good Communicator both verbal and written
  • Working to support Safety Arguments
  • Experience working  with ISO 9001
  • Experience with Defence Industry
