Overview

Are you a hands-on engineering expert with real-world experience in metrology?

 

We’re looking for a specialist who will be responsible for the delivery of metrology engineering outputs supporting GME Stampings.

 

Responsibilities

  • Derive a robust locator strategy for single panel MSO content on the new model programme aligned with BIW assembly and PE
  • Assess SCSS (YC/YS) characteristic cascaded from PE and feedback on measurement feasibility
  • Assess GD&T in CAD from PE and provide measurement programme (tactile and optical) creation support to toolmakers and home line metrology teams
  • Assess measurement point created by supplier and get buy in with stakeholders before handover to toolmakers and home line metrology teams
  • Checking fixture procurement and relevant buy offs before handover to toolmakers
  • Conduct MSA / G‑R&R studies at toolmakers and home line metrology teams
  • Ensure engineering changes affecting checking fixture and measurement plans are implemented through coordinating with relevant suppliers
  • Ensure PPAP documentation is up to date

Qualifications

  • Degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in part quality & measurement.

Essential skills

  • Experience in the Metrology field
  • Extensive experience of Measurement Systems analysis (MSA)
  • Extensive experience of CMM & GOM
  • CATIA v5 & v6 experience
  • Detailed GD&T knowledge for interrogation
  • Extensive Checking fixture / gauge procurement.
  • Experience with MS Office suite: Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to travel extensively between sites

Desired skills

  • Stampings and BIW manufacturing experience
  • Extensive experience in carrying out pressed panel feasibility checks on simulation tools (Autoform) and creating production process definition
  • Understanding of various material properties and it’s affect on part feasibility and quality during try out
  • Previous die manufacturing and buy off experience
  • Previous press operational experience and problem solving for quality concerns (dimensional, formability and cosmetic)
  • Extensive knowledge of CAD Software tools - Catia, Autoform, and the ability to update tool Designs during the programmes
