Overview

We are seeking an experienced PLM Test Lead to help define and drive the quality assurance strategy for key initiatives within our clients’ manufacturing environment. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that PLM system updates, engineering data, application functionality and engineering business processes are rigorously validated before they reach production. You will bridge the gap between technical development and manufacturing execution.

As the PLM Test Lead, you will take ownership of the end-to-end testing lifecycle, working with the Test Manager to define robust strategies for System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) and Security testing to ensure that PLM toolsets meet rigorous manufacturing standards. You will validate that change management and configuration control workflows maintain absolute data integrity across the product lifecycle, working closely with cross-functional teams to develop test scenarios that reflect real life operations. Your role involves planning all test activities for a project, leading defect management activities, facilitating workshops & meetings, providing critical risk assessments for "Go/No-Go" decisions, and continuously optimising testing processes to support manufacturing objectives and overall production efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Test Planning: Develop and maintain comprehensive Test Strategies and detailed Test Plans, ensuring alignment with PLM release cycles and overall manufacturing programme objectives.
  • Test Execution: Oversee and participate in the end-to-end delivery of manual testing cycles (SIT/UAT/OAT/Security), managing defect triage processes and ensuring systems are validated against business requirements.
  • RAID Management: Identify, manage, and mitigate risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies specifically related to test environment availability, data readiness, and production impact.
  • Reporting: Provide regular status updates to stakeholders on preparation & execution progress, defect metrics, and quality gate status, highlighting any risks to the production go live.
  • Quality Management: Oversee the validation of engineering data and configuration control processes, ensuring all system deliverables meet rigorous standards for traceability and build quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
  • ISEB / ISTQB or equivalent certification in testing
  • Additional course or certification in Agile and/or Project Management

Essential skills

  • A good understanding of the Product Life Cycles within a complex manufacturing business.
  • Strong understanding of End-to-End Testing Methodology.
  • Excellent client-facing skills.
  • People management skills – the ability to lead business testing teams.
  • Desire to continue to build domain knowledge– tools, applications, platforms and engineering processes.
  • Strong communication skills in English are essential for effectively interacting with stakeholders.
  • The role will also require hands on test execution where required.

Experience

  • QA Leadership: Proven experience of the planning and execution of testing initiatives within manufacturing.
  • PLM System Expertise: Hands-on experience with enterprise-level PLM platforms (such as Teamcenter) is desired.
  • End-to-End Validation: A demonstrated track record of delivering or supporting complex System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Operational Acceptance Test (OAT) and Security test activities.
  • Teamcenter – Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform
  • NX – CAD/CAM/CAE design and engineering suite
