We are seeking an experienced Automotive Health Management System Engineer to support the development, validation, and continuous improvement of vehicle health monitoring, diagnostics, and functional safety mechanisms.
This role focuses on ensuring system robustness, reliability, and safe operation across complex automotive mechatronic systems. The successful candidate will bring strong hands-on diagnostic expertise, deep knowledge of functional safety standards, and a systems engineering mindset to identify failure modes, implement effective fault-handling strategies, and drive design improvements across software, hardware, and vehicle integration layers.
Develop, implement, and validate vehicle health management strategies including fault detection, fault reaction, degradation, and fault logging mechanisms.
Perform vehicle-level fault analysis and validation using automotive diagnostic and measurement tools.
Apply ISO 14229 (UDS) diagnostic communication protocols for fault reporting, monitoring, and service implementation.
Contribute to functional safety activities in accordance with ISO 26262, including fail-safe and fail-operational strategies.
Analyse system robustness using DFMEA and other structured safety and reliability techniques.
Identify system-level failure modes and guide corrective design actions across software, hardware, and system domains.
Support AUTOSAR Classic and POSIX-based OS/middleware fault-handling architecture design and validation.
Lead structured problem-solving activities using methodologies such as 8D and root cause analysis.
Support system integration activities, resolving cross-domain issues and dependencies.
Ensure health management concepts support long-term system reliability and production readiness.
Strong hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics and measurement tools, including Vector CANape, CANoe, CANalyzer, and OEM diagnostic toolchains (e.g. JLR tools).
In-depth understanding and practical application of ISO 14229 (UDS) diagnostic protocols.
Strong working knowledge of ISO 26262, including functional safety concepts, safety mechanisms, and lifecycle activities.
Expertise in automotive system robustness, reliability engineering, and safety mechanisms.
Solid understanding of AUTOSAR Classic and POSIX-based OS/middleware fault-handling architectures.
Strong systems engineering mindset with the ability to understand end-to-end vehicle and mechatronic interactions.
Advanced problem-solving capability using structured methodologies (e.g. 8D, root cause analysis).
Experience performing DFMEA and driving system-level design improvements.
Knowledge of fail-operational system architectures for advanced vehicle functions.
Experience supporting vehicle integration, validation, and production readiness activities.
Familiarity with cross-domain automotive systems (powertrain, chassis, body, ADAS, or electrification).
Experience contributing to safety case documentation and audit support.
Proven experience in automotive health management, diagnostics, functional safety, or system robustness engineering roles.
Demonstrated track record of identifying and resolving complex system-level faults across hardware and software interfaces.
Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams across systems, software, hardware, and vehicle integration.
Hands-on experience validating safety mechanisms and diagnostic strategies at component, system, and vehicle level.
