Overview

Expleo is a leading Global Engineering Services Provider with UK presence in 10 locations.  We are seeking an EDS Engineer to deliver harness and routing designs for various Engine Platforms both 4 and 6 cylinder across the range of prototype vehicles.  The successful candidate is expected to be conversant with client toolsets as well as current thinking/techniques in Automotive EDS Engineering.

 

The work is expected to be able to be carried out largely remotely, however travel to Leyland is needed and priority will be given a candidate that is local to Leyland and able to support a client facing onsite liaison role.

 

We are looking for energetic and driven engineers with broad expertise, however of particular interest would be candidates with previous experience working on HGV or PCV chassis.

Responsibilities

Key areas of responsibility in the delivery of this work package may include:

  • Deliver harness and routing designs for various Engine Platforms both 4 and 6 cylinder across the range of prototype vehicles.
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Vehicle Test Team to finalise timelines and co-ordinate material for all electrical harnessing to ensure on time delivery for each prototype build.
  • Develop electrical design and schematic inputs supporting next gen ADAS systems
  • Develop electrical design and schematic inputs for the EBS system mounted on chassis.
  • Develop in conjunction with harness team , a cost effective HV routing and design architecture.
  • Evaluate concepts with global harness team to develop a global solution
  • Evaluate various low voltage distribution concepts for next gen EV vehicles which takes into account DCDC power levels, power distribution and low voltage battery management.

Qualifications

  • Degree level qualification in Engineering with relevant background
  • A lower qualification would be acceptable for example HNC/HND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieu
  • Full UK (or equivalent) driving licence.

Essential skills

  • Design and development of automotive wiring harnesses
  • Use of PTC Creo for electrical wire harness design/routing
  • Use of PTC Windchill PLM toolset.
  • Self- sufficient, self-motivated and excellent team-player
  • Flexible, adaptable, proactive, diplomatic attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Command of common Microsoft Office tools, Excel, Outlook, Teams & Word
  • Understanding of wire harness manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and compliance

Desired skills

  • Design and development of wiring harnesses for HGV/PCV applications

Experience

  • Extensive experience in the design and development of automotive wiring harnesses
  • Experience in the use of CREO and Sabre.
