  • Support the CSE as a focal point for GCN, Software, Simulation & Modelling stakeholders.
  • Analyse requirements driving system algorithm and software design, including trade-off analysis and product evolution
  • Define and align Common Algorithm/Software Architecture with stakeholders, ensuring adherence to BMS Standards and Def Stans
  • Perform functional verification of algorithm components in model environments, including hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Validate algorithm behaviour in target software environments to ensure consistency with model environments
  • Validate integrated algorithm and non-algorithm components in target software for full functional chain testing
  • Manage testing within software labs, compatibility labs, and HWIL environments with appropriate hardware/software standards
  • Lead system performance activities including model development, requirement specification, and V&V documentation
  • Deliver design studies, performance trades, and safety-related analyses as system properties evolve
  • Coordinate specialist domains (GCN, Seeker, IP, Aero, FAS) contributing to system performance
  • Deliver pre-flight modelling and post-trial analysis, including telemetry data processing and reporting

Qualifications

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • A lower qualification would be acceptable for example HND/HNC should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieu

Essential skills

  • Coding — capable of developing and reviewing software to support modelling and integration
  • Modelling — skilled in creating and interpreting system and subsystem models
  • Simulation — able to run and analyse simulations to assess system behaviour
  • Hardware‑in‑the‑loop — experienced in using HWIL setups to validate real‑time behaviour
  • System integration — adept at integrating software, algorithms and hardware
  • V&V lifecycle — knowledgeable across planning, execution and evidence generation
  • BMS standards — familiar with BMS standards and their application
  • Def Stans — understands relevant Defence Standards and their impact on development
  • Stakeholder engagement — effective at working with cross‑functional technical teams

  • Telemetry processing — able to interpret and process telemetry data for trials and post‑test analysis
  • Trials experience — familiar with supporting live or simulated trials and handling associated data
  • Safety studies — able to contribute to safety‑related assessments and system behaviour evaluations
  • Trade studies — capable of comparing design options to support informed technical decisions

Experience

  • Real‑time software — contributed to systems requiring deterministic, time‑critical behaviour
  • System integration — brought hardware, software, and algorithms together into a functioning system
  • Modelling — used system or subsystem models to support design and performance assessment
  • Algorithm verification — confirmed algorithm behaviour through simulation and hardware‑in‑the‑loop methods
  • Laboratory testing — carried out structured testing in software, compatibility, and HWIL labs
  • Performance trades — evaluated design options and system behaviours to support trade‑off decisions
  • Trial support — supported pre‑flight modelling, telemetry preparation, and post‑trial data analysis
  • V&V documentation — produced verification plans, validation evidence, and structured reports
