We are looking for energetic and driven Principal Systems Engineers to join our rapidly systems team within our Electronics and Embedded Systems Capability. This role represents a fantastic and rare opportunity to play a leading role in the design and development on a range of client defence marine product. The project is in the early phases of the lifecycle and you will be supporting from the concept design though to delivery and installation testing.

Responsibilities

  • You'll be responsible for a range of activities within the Systems Lifecycle including :-

    • Technical Leadership and Task Management 
    • Design Evaluation
    • Requirements Management
    • Concept Design and Simulation
    • Statement of Work Generation and Supplier Liaison
    • Verification planning and management
  • You’ll have a proven track record of actively leading successful project delivery for electronic and digital, complex technology focused projects. Qualifications

  • A HNC / HND / FD or Bachelor's degree in an engineering subject

Essential skills

  • Engineering Management
  • Project Management understanding (Critical path control, Risk understanding)
  • Worked as an engineer on either Hardware, Software or Systems engineering.
  • Full knowledge of 'V' lifecycle
  • Leadership & Management
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Broad understanding of the Maritime Electronic Warfare and Combat Systems domain
  • Experience with the design and development of Electronics & Motors, Power Electronics, Digital Electronics
  • Delivery of electronic systems across the SE life cycle, including an understanding of the CADMID life cycle and its alignment with systems/product life cycles;
  • Requirements Engineering using DOORS
  • Understanding of the process of testing and integrating electronic and digital systems

Desired skills

  • Engineering/technical management, preferably in a position responsible for the delivery of equipment/system programmes for a MoD customer;
  • Able to understand the effect of system design and change on the cost of the development;
  • Conversant with the MoD Knowledge in Defence (KiD) framework and associated design, build, test and acceptance processes;
  • Be a good communicator, both written and oral, and able to liaise at all levels with customers/stakeholders;
  • Capable of undertaking and documenting detailed development activities including proof of concept designs;
  • Radar Systems

  • 3 days P/W onsite require in Sandwich, Kent.
