Electrical Test Operations Engineer - AIT

As part of our continued support to our customer in the space sector we are looking for an Electrical Test Operations Engineer - AIT.  The role will be based at our customer’s facility in Stevenage and the candidate should be prepared to work shift when required (for which a premium will be paid) and travel within the UK and Europe in support of test campaigns.

The successful candidate will be engaged in executing electrical and functional test procedures on engineering test benches and flight spacecraft in accordance with Work Orders, test procedures and processes. Preparing electrical test set-up, making electrical measurements and executing functional tests on the spacecraft in the cleanroom. Preparing test reports and supporting test reviews.

• Execution of Electrical and Functional test procedures on Engineering test benches and flight spacecraft.
• Use of the Central Checkout System (CCS), Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and Spacecraft Check Out Equipment (SCOE) to support the test activities. Typically test racks housing a mix of generic & bespoke test equipment
• Validation of test-aids, break out boxes, cables etc.
• Minor test procedure updates, raising work orders, test reports and other test documentation.
• Supporting electrical integration, automated and manual tests at unit, subsystem & system level.
• Spacecraft electrical test and support during environmental test and launch activities.
• Work to company and departmental procedures and standards.

• Minimum of an HNC or NVQ Level 4 in an Electrical Engineering related discipline or relevant experience in a similar role.

• Software skills to write, debug and commission test sequences in a variety of software and scripting languages (C and Java Eclipse preferred).  Confident working with the Linux OS.
  
• Electronic Engineering - Use of scope, current probe, DMM, timer/counter etc.  Good grounding in the fundamentals of electronics.
  
• Knowledge and experience working on a complex, multi-subsystem engineering product, performing functional/system testing.  Examples may include; spacecraft, aerospace guidance systems, guided weapons, drones, electronic and control systems of vehicles.
  
• Excellent documentation skills and knowledge of office apps as well as on-line documentation tools  (efficient and attention to detail).
  
• Positive, `can do' attitude with the willingness to work flexibly (on site - not working from home) to achieve the schedule, while adhering to processes.

• Electrical integration of equipment on a test bench or spacecraft.
• Use of a wide range of electrical test equipment and test racks.
• Executing test sequences/scripts on a test bench or spacecraft from a Central Checkout System (CCS) including making minor updates to these.
• Electrical fault investigation and test debug.
• Environmental and launch test campaigns.
• Updating test procedures, writing work orders/plans and test reports and supporting test and non-conformance reviews.
• Experience in using a Digital Design and Manufacturing System (DDMS) to raise work order, plans etc. would be beneficial.

• UK sole National.
• SC cleared without caveats.
• Ability and willingness to travel to and work on the clients Stevenage site 5 days per week.
• Ability/willingness to support shift working when required (for which an applicable shift premium is payable)
• Ability/willingness to travel as needed to support test campaigns both in the UK and Europe.
