Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong exposure to the London Markets insurance environment and hands‑on experience supporting or implementing an Underwriting Workbench solution. The ideal candidate will be confident working with underwriting teams, capturing complex business requirements, and helping to design efficient underwriting journeys across the full lifecycle.
Experience with digital workflow or low‑code platforms such as Unqork would be a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct end‑to‑end business analysis across the Underwriting Workbench programme.
  • Perform user journey mapping to understand current underwriting processes and pain points.
  • Lead As‑Is process discovery sessions with underwriting, operations, and technical teams.
  • Develop high‑quality To‑Be process designs, ensuring alignment with programme objectives.
  • Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications for technology teams.
  • Partner with Underwriters, Product Owners, and Architects to ensure requirements feasibility.
  • Support backlog creation, refinement, and prioritisation.
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and walk throughs with functional and technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to UAT planning, test case development, and defect triage.
  • Provide ongoing support during deployment, adoption, and post‑go‑live stabilisation.

Essential skills

  • Strong understanding of underwriting processes, workbench systems, and workflow design.
  • Expertise in process modelling, user journey mapping, and requirements elicitation.
  • Demonstrated capability in As‑Is / To‑Be analysis and business solution design.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery models (Scrum/Kanban).

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst within London Markets (Specialty Insurance).
  • Experience with Underwriting Workbench tools (vendor or custom-built).
  • Experience with Unqork or similar low/no‑code workflow platforms (preferred).
