Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Responsible Quality Assurance Engineer to lead and ensure quality excellence across processes and products for one of our key clients in Stevenage. You will play a crucial role in guaranteeing that Spacecraft Integration, Processes, and Methods comply with quality requirements and procedures. Additionally, this role offers an exciting opportunity to take on responsibilities as a Satellite QA Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance Leadership:
    • Define and execute Quality Assurance (QA) activities, ensuring full adherence to processes and procedures to maintain product quality standards.
    • Lead quality improvement initiatives within Spacecraft Production processes.
    • Manage and prioritize the project quality team (Inspectors, Operational QAs), ensuring efficient workload distribution and issue escalation.
    • Oversee the completion of corrective and preventive actions, ensuring effective closure.
    • Drive non-conformance management and contribute to cost reduction strategies for Non-Quality Compliance.
  • Process Management & Compliance:
    • Develop, maintain, and execute a Quality Surveillance Plan (QSP) in alignment with project requirements.
    • Define inspection processes and coordinate additional inspections as required.
    • Chair gate reviews (Manufacturing Readiness Review, Test Readiness Review, Delivery Review Board, etc.) and ensure the implementation of resulting actions.
    • Develop and support Key and Mandatory Inspection Plans.
    • Conduct incoming inspection planning and checklist development.
  • Continuous Improvement & Risk Management:
    • Provide quality briefs and training to raise awareness among operators on best practices and lessons learned.
    • Review Production work instructions to ensure alignment with quality and verification requirements.
    • Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), using problem-solving tools to identify root causes and oversee corrective actions.
    • Lead Internal Review Boards (IRB), ensuring the implementation of effective resolutions.
    • Drive risk analysis and preventive action plans (including PFMEA implementation).
    • Execute audit planning, flash audits, and process audits.
    • Ensure the implementation of lessons learned and near-miss actions to enhance quality performance.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Support the SQCDP performance dialogue in the working area (schedule management, priority setting, KPI tracking, etc.).
    • Provide functional and project management reports as required.
    • Generate monthly Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track and improve performance.
    • Implement OES Initiatives to drive quality improvement and reduce non-quality costs.
    • Support the deployment of quality delegation initiatives within the production area.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Represent Spacecraft Production Quality in strategic decision-making forums.
    • Manage ECWP QA costs related to Satellite projects.
    • Drive the bid process for Spacecraft Production in Satellite.
    • Foster a collaborative and team-oriented culture within the Satellite QA team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Aerospace, or a related field.

Experience

  • Proven experience in Quality Assurance within a Spacecraft/Aerospace Manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of quality standards, inspection processes, and risk management methodologies.

  • Excellent leadership skills, with experience managing QA teams.

  • Proficiency in Non-Conformance management, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective Actions.

  • Ability to conduct audits, process evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage with multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Experience with KPIs monitoring, reporting, and process optimization.
