Overview

Expleo is a trusted partner for end-to-end, integrated engineering, quality services and management consulting for digital transformation.  We help businesses harness unrelenting technological change to successfully deliver innovations that will help them gain a competitive advantage and improve the everyday lives of people around the globe.

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Power Electronics System Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of advanced electronic and high-voltage (HV) systems within a complex engineering environment.

This role is suited to a highly skilled engineer with a strong background in power electronics, embedded systems, and full lifecycle (V-cycle) development. The position involves ownership of system architecture, supplier engagement, validation strategies, and compliance with industry standards, particularly in safety-critical and high-performance applications.itectures, AUTOSAR platforms, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing for cutting-edge vehicle technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system engineering activities for high-voltage (HV) subsystems, including power electronics modules such as DC-DC converters and HV distribution systems.
  • Define, develop, and maintain high-level system architecture and technical requirements.
  • Oversee full lifecycle development (V-cycle), from concept and design through to validation, production, and release.
  • Support functional safety activities in line with ISO 26262, including DFMEA, DVP, design for manufacture (DFM), and root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Collaborate with external suppliers and vendors to align on technical specifications, design reviews, and delivery milestones.
  • Lead system integration activities, ensuring seamless interaction between hardware, embedded software, and vehicle/system-level requirements.
  • Develop and implement end-of-line (EoL) test systems, including automated test solutions and custom hardware for validation and fault detection.
  • Conduct environmental and reliability testing (e.g. temperature and humidity cycling) and ensure robustness of designs.
  • Perform EMC/EMI testing and implement design improvements to meet regulatory compliance standards.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturing and assembly standards (e.g. IPC standards) across PCB design and integration.
  • Support diagnostic and communication analysis using appropriate tools and scripting solutions.
  • Contribute to configuration management, engineering change processes, and product release activities.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers and guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver project objectives.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in electronic system design and power electronics engineering.
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage systems and safety-critical design environments.

Essential skills

  • Expertise in analogue and digital electronic design.
  • Strong knowledge of power electronics, including DC-DC converter design and HV systems integration.
  • In-depth understanding of EMC/EMI compliance and associated testing standards.
  • Experience with functional safety processes (ISO 26262) and supporting methodologies (DFMEA, DVP, RCA).
  • Proficiency in embedded systems development and hardware/software integration.
  • Experience with test system development, including automated validation frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of PCB design, layout, and manufacturing standards (e.g. IPC-610, IPC-620).
  • Ability to define and manage system-level requirements and architectures.
  • Experience working with engineering tools such as:
    • Altium Designer / OrCAD
    • LabVIEW / TestStand
    • CANalyzer (or similar diagnostic tools)
    • SAP (or equivalent PLM/ERP systems)

Desired skills

  • Experience with high-efficiency power conversion systems and advanced power electronics topologies.
  • Knowledge of vehicle/system-level diagnostics and communication protocols.
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python for automation and analysis.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage safety procedures and authorised person responsibilities.
  • Exposure to manufacturing test strategy development and production readiness activities.
  • Experience working in highly regulated or safety-critical industries.

Experience

  • Proven track record in delivering complex electronic and power electronics systems across industries such as automotive, aerospace, medical, or industrial sectors.
  • Experience leading HV system development, including design, integration, and validation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships and technical interfaces.
  • Experience developing automated test systems and custom validation hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with environmental and reliability testing.
  • Experience debugging and reviewing embedded software in conjunction with hardware systems.
  • Experience working within structured engineering processes and gated project delivery frameworks.
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
