Overview

The Network Engineer is a key member of the escalation team supporting a secure Satellite Communications Network within a defence and marine environment. The role involves both planned and reactive maintenance activities to ensure the reliable delivery of satellite and communications services.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with operational support teams and stakeholders, contributing technical expertise to resolve complex engineering challenges while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
The work will be based onsite full time between Bristol, Chippenham and Corsham office locations and will require all candidates applying to be eligible for UK Security Clearance to SC level (UK Eyes Only).

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

· Carry out routine and scheduled maintenance in accordance with work orders, maintenance plans, and technical documentation.

· Lead or support reactive maintenance activities in response to system faults and service incidents.

· Identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system alarms, faults, and anomalies.

· Produce detailed fault reports and ensure accurate recording of all maintenance activities.

· Work closely with engineering, operations, and customer stakeholders to maintain service availability.

Qualifications

Qualifications

· NVQ Level 3 or above in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.

· Ability to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.

Essential skills

Essential experience of the Network Engineer:
  • Technical background in electronics, engineering, networking, telecommunications, or a related discipline.
  • Experience maintaining, repairing, or fault-finding on communications or network equipment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
  • Understanding and practical experience of maintaining high-power RF (Radio Frequency) transmission and antenna systems.
  • Comfortable working with cabling, antennas, and hands-on technical troubleshooting.
