Overview

Expleo is seeking an experienced Systems Lead / Requirements Manager to take technical ownership of complex engineering work packages within a defence and naval technology environment.

This is a client-facing role, where you will represent Expleo in a professional engineering capacity, operating as a trusted technical partner. The position requires a self-managing, proactive individual who can operate independently while contributing to a broader delivery team.


 

 

Responsibilities

 
  • Lead the technical direction and delivery of assigned work packages
  • Act as a client-facing representative of Expleo, building strong working relationships
  • Own and manage requirements across the full engineering lifecycle
  • Drive requirements capture, decomposition, traceability and validation using DOORS NG
  • Support integration, verification, validation (V&V), and qualification activities
  • Translate early-stage prototypes into fully engineered, deployable solutions
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and support to junior engineers and team members
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, integration and test
  • Work with a high degree of autonomy, managing priorities and deliverables independently

 

 

Qualifications

 
  • Degree, HND or equivalent in Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong background in Systems Engineering within complex environments

 

 

Essential skills

 
  • Proven experience in requirements management across the full lifecycle
  • Expert-level practitioner in DOORS NG (mandatory)
  • Hands-on experience in Verification & Validation (V&V)
  • Experience in electrical design and/or product development
  • Ability to lead technically while remaining delivery-focused

 

 

Desired skills

 
  • Experience within defence or naval/combat systems environments
  • Familiarity with SysML modelling tools (e.g. IBM Rhapsody or equivalent)

 

 

Experience

 
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a self-starter in client-facing environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to represent an organisation professionally to clients

 

 

What do I need before I apply

 

Working Pattern

  • Hybrid model: 2 days per week on-site in Barnstaple
  • Remaining days remote (subject to project needs)

 

Security Requirements

  • SC Clearance preferred
  • Candidates must be eligible for SC and can start on BPSS clearance
