A As part of our continued expansion in Aerospace Systems Engineering, we are seeking a Requirements Engineer to support the development of next-generation electric rotorcraft platforms (eVTOL).

 

This role sits at the heart of the system development lifecycle, ensuring that requirements are clear, structured, traceable, and certifiable in line with EASA CS standards and programme objectives. You will work across multidisciplinary teams—including systems, safety, design, and V&V—to ensure that requirements drive a robust and compliant development programme.

This role is Hybrid working in Bristol.

Responsibilities

  • Capture, develop, and maintain high-quality system, subsystem, and hardware requirements for electric rotorcraft platforms
  • Ensure requirements are clear, unambiguous, verifiable, and compliant with EASA certification expectations (e.g. CS-27/CS-29 or equivalent frameworks)
  • Establish and maintain requirements traceability from stakeholder needs through to verification and validation evidence
  • Support the definition of verification methods and acceptance criteria within requirements, ensuring testability and compliance
  • Collaborate with systems engineering, safety, and design teams to ensure requirements reflect functional, safety, and performance needs
  • Manage requirements changes and configuration control, ensuring alignment with programme governance
  • Support compliance demonstration activities, ensuring all requirements are mapped to certification evidence and “proof of compliance”
  • Participate in design and technical reviews, ensuring requirements integrity throughout the lifecycle
  • Identify and manage requirements-related risks, ambiguities, or gaps
  • Support integration of MBSE approaches and tools to enhance requirement quality and consistency
  • Interface with stakeholders (including customer and certification authorities) to clarify and validate requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Chartered engineer or working towards chartered status within a recognised and relevant professional body. 
  • Applications are invited from candidates who may hold HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline in concert with significant and demonstrable subject matter expertise in the system domain

Essential skills

  • Strong experience in requirements capture, decomposition, and management
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and testable engineering requirements
  • Experience with requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS, Polarion or similar)
  • Understanding of requirements traceability and verification linkage
  • Knowledge of systems engineering and integration principles
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong documentation and organisational skills

Desired skills

  • Experience with electric propulsion systems, batteries, or high-voltage aerospace systems

  • Knowledge of ARP4754A / ARP4761 processes

  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools

  • Experience supporting certification programmes or audits

  • Awareness of safety assessment methods (FHA, FMEA, FTA)

  • Experience within Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), eVTOL, or rotorcraft programmes
