As part of our continued growth in Flight Solution Testing, we are seeking a Hardware Engineer with experience in DO-254-compliant development to support the design, development, and certification of next-generation electric rotorcraft (eVTOL) platforms.
This role is focused on delivering safety-critical airborne electronic hardware, including analogue, digital, and programmable logic-based systems, ensuring compliance with DO-254 objectives and integration into the wider aircraft system. You will play a key role in supporting certification activities across high-integrity powertrain, avionics, and electrical systems.

This role is Hybrid working in Bristol.
Within this role, you will be required to :-
Develop and deliver electronic hardware designs (analogue, digital, FPGA/PLD) in accordance with DO-254 processes and objectives
Produce and maintain hardware lifecycle artefacts, including requirements, design documentation, integration plans, and verification evidence
Participate in all phases of the hardware development lifecycle, including requirements capture, design, implementation, integration, and verificatio
Define and execute hardware verification and validation activities, ensuring compliance with certification requirements
Ensure full traceability between hardware requirements, design outputs, and verification activities
Support the development of verification strategies, including test plans and procedures for hardware qualification
Collaborate with software, systems, and safety engineering teams to ensure integrated system performance and compliance
Identify and resolve hardware defects and anomalies, ensuring robust and reliable designs
Support certification activities, including preparation of compliance documentation and interaction with certification authorities
Participate in design reviews, audits, and peer reviews, ensuring adherence to DO-254 standards and best practices
Contribute to configuration management and change control, ensuring integrity of hardware baselines
Strong experience in electronic hardware design, including analogue and digital systems
Experience with DO-254 processes, including lifecycle data and compliance objectives
Knowledge of programmable logic design (e.g. FPGA, VHDL/Verilog or similar) where applicable
Understanding of requirements-driven development and traceability
Experience with hardware verification and validation techniques
Knowledge of circuit design, schematic capture, and hardware integration
Familiarity with configuration management and design assurance processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to produce clear and structured technical documentation
Strong communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
Experience working on avionics, flight control systems, or electrical power systems
Familiarity with DO-178 / DO-254 processes and hardware/software integration activities
Experience with high-voltage systems, batteries, or electric propulsion technologies
Knowledge of EMC/EMI considerations and mitigation techniques
Experience supporting certification programmes or regulatory audits
Exposure to Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), eVTOL, or emerging aviation platforms
Familiarity with hardware description languages and simulation tools
