As part of our continued growth in Aircraft development, we are seeking an Engineering Automation Developer to support the development of next-generation electric rotorcraft (eVTOL) platforms.

 

This role focuses on the development of automation tools and software solutions that enhance engineering efficiency across CAD design, stress analysis, and finite element modelling (FEM). You will play a key role in enabling digital transformation by reducing manual effort, improving consistency, and accelerating engineering workflows across multidisciplinary teams.

 

This is a highly impactful role at the intersection of software development and aerospace engineering, supporting scalable and efficient delivery of complex engineering activities.

 

This role is Hybrid working in Bristol.

Responsibilities

Within this role, you will be required to :-

 

  • Develop and maintain automation tools and scripts to support engineering workflows across design and analysis domains

  • Create automation solutions for 3DX CAD environments, improving model creation, modification, and data extraction processes

  • Develop and implement Python scripts for stress analysis workflows, enabling automated calculations, data processing, and reporting

  • Support the automation of finite element modelling (FEM) processes, including model setup, execution, and post-processing

  • Integrate automation solutions into toolchains and engineering environments, ensuring compatibility and usability

  • Collaborate with design, stress, and systems engineers to identify opportunities for workflow optimisation and automation

  • Develop data processing and analysis tools, supporting comparison of simulation, test, and design data

  • Support standardisation of engineering processes through repeatable and robust automation solutions

  • Contribute to the development of CI/CD pipelines and version-controlled automation frameworks where applicable

  • Produce clear and maintainable technical documentation for developed tools and scripts

  • Support verification and validation of automated processes, ensuring accuracy and reliability

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across engineering workflows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Chartered engineer or working towards chartered status within a recognised and relevant professional body.
  • Applications are invited from candidates who may hold HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline in concert with significant and demonstrable subject matter expertise in the system domain

Essential skills

  • Strong experience in Python programming for engineering or data-driven application.

  • Experience developing automation tools for CAD or simulation environments (e.g. 3DX, CATIA, or similar)

  • Understanding of finite element modelling (FEM) workflows, including pre- and post-processing

  • Experience with data processing, analysis, and visualisation techniques

    Knowledge of engineering analysis methods, particularly stress and structural analysis workflows

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git)

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking capability

  • Ability to develop robust, maintainable, and scalable software solutions

  • Good communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams

Desired skills

  • Experience with 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) platform and APIs

  • Knowledge of FEA tools (e.g. Nastran, Abaqus, Ansys or similar) and associated automation approaches

  • Experience with CAD automation and parametric modelling workflows

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in engineering environments

  • Understanding of MBSE or digital engineering approaches

  • Experience in aerospace or safety‑critical industries

  • Exposure to Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) or eVTOL platforms

  • Knowledge of data integration across simulation, test, and design environments
