We collaborate with world-leading aerospace manufacturers, delivering cutting-edge solutions in structural analysis, finite element modelling, numerical simulation, and certification support. At Expleo, we foster innovation, technical excellence, and professional growth, empowering our teams to shape the future of aerospace engineering.

We are seekingseeking Mission Systems Engineers to support the development of mission architectures and integrated combat air capabilities for GCAP. This role sits at the centre of future combat air capability development, bringing together sensing, communications, survivability, information management and effect generation capabilities into integrated mission solutions. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of mission systems that provide operational advantage in highly contested and rapidly evolving environments.

This role offers an opportunity to influence future combat air capability through the development, integration and optimisation of advanced sensing architectures, supporting delivery across the full engineering lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Define interfaces across sensing, communications, survivability and platform systems.
  • Support mission-level integration and verification activities.
  • Conduct architecture studies, trade-off analyses and capability assessments.
  • Support digital engineering and model-based development approaches.
  • Contribute to operational analysis and concept development activities.
  • Support programme reviews and customer engagements.
  • Collaborate across industry partners, suppliers and customer organisations.
  • Support technology maturation and capability demonstration programmes.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related STEM discipline.
  • Applications are also welcomed from individuals with significant demonstrable experience who don’t hold formal qualifications.
  • Professional registration or working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

  • Mission systems architecture development.
  • Systems engineering lifecycle knowledge.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Information fusion and information advantage concepts.
  • Systems integration and interface management.
  • Digital engineering approaches.
  • Operational analysis and capability development.
  • Requirements management and verification planning.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and presentation skills.

Desired skills

  • Someone for whom collaboration and working in partnership comes naturally. A confident communicator with the ability to negotiate.
  • You will also be self-motivated with an energetic attitude, being able to transform complex problems into simple, elegant solution.
  • Capable of working across a portfolio of projects and business initiatives often at short notice. Someone who is an instinctive organiser with meticulous attention to detail, and who can motivate others to complete their actions so that the overall objectives are achieved.
  • Someone who understands ‘how’ you do things is just as important as ‘what’ you do – who will role model and apply our Principles.
  • A person who is resilient and adaptable, who can navigate ambiguity and complexity and help teams own and deliver day to day.
