We are seeking seeking AESA Radar Engineers to support the development of next-generation sensing capabilities for the future generation combat aircraft.  Working as part of integrated systems engineering teams, you will contribute to the development, integration and verification of advanced Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar capabilities that deliver information advantage and enhanced mission effectiveness within future combat air environments.

 

This role offers an opportunity to influence future combat air capability through the development, integration and optimisation of advanced sensing architectures, supporting delivery across the full engineering lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of radar system requirements and technical specifications.

  • Contribute to system architecture and functional modelling activities.

  • Support radar performance analysis and trade studies.

  • Develop and maintain systems engineering artefacts and technical documentation.

  • Support verification, validation and integration planning activities.

  • Participate in design reviews and technical governance activities.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and customer stakeholders.

  • Contribute to modelling, simulation and synthetic environment activities.

  • Support risk management and technical issue resolution.

  • Ensure compliance with programme, safety and security requirements.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related STEM discipline.
  • Applications are also welcomed from individuals with significant demonstrable experience who don’t hold formal qualifications.

Essential skills

  • Systems Engineering principles and lifecycle processes.

  • Understanding of AESA radar architectures.

  • Radar performance modelling and analysis.

  • RF system fundamentals.

  • Simulation tools such as Matlab/Simuling and RF toolbox / HFSS
  • Signal processing concepts.

  • Systems integration and verification.

  • Requirements management using MBSE.

  • Technical problem solving and stakeholder engagement.

  • Fire-control radar systems.

  • ECRS Mk2, Captor-E or similar radar environments.

  • Digital beamforming.

  • Multi-target tracking.

  • Radar resource management.

  • Sensor fusion.

  • Synthetic environment development.

  • MATLAB / Simulink.

  • Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Real-time simulation environments.

Experience

  • Experience delivering systems engineering activities within aerospace, defence or complex engineering environments.
  • Experience working across requirements, architecture and verification activities.
  • Sensor or radar system development experience.
  • Combat air, military aviation or defence programme experience.
  • Experience supporting digital engineering initiatives.
